(U.S.C) Mandating New Traffic Sign Regulations for

Public AND Private Property
 

New traffic sign regulations related to reflectivity, design and size are in effect for signs on private property that are open to public travel.  This includes shopping centers, condominiums and apartment complexes, hotels, hospitals, etc. In the event of an accident or injury on property, without proper signage, the property owner could be held liable.

1. Signs on private property

must meet MUTCD standards
on color, size, design, reflectivity
and installation standards NOW.		 2. By January 2012, traffic
signs must be mounted a
certain height  from the
ground and street name
sign letters must meet new
minimum size requirements
(shown below).
 		 3. By January 2015 new
reflectivity levels should
be in place for regulatory,
warning and ground
mounted signs.
