FASTSIGNS® of Windsor, ON, a local sign and visual graphics provider, recently acquired a book of business from Action Signs and Designs, Inc. Franchisee at FASTSIGNS® of Windsor, ON, Jackie Raymond, noticed that owner of Action Signs and Designs, Bob Redel, had placed an ad online to sell some of his equipment. When she called to inquire, she learned that he was closing the business and retiring.
“We asked if he would be interested in working with us to bring his clients over so they would receive the same great service they were accustomed to and he agreed,” said Raymond. “We were thrilled to offer him an opportunity to transition financially, instead of just closing the business and walking away.”
Although Bob was set to retire, he was not ready to stop working completely. Redel will work with the FASTSIGNS® of Windsor, ON team for 20 hours per week to bring his expertise in-house that was previously subcontracted.
“Selling the book of business to FASTSIGNS is a great opportunity for our customers to receive the same trusted, high-quality products they are accustomed to,” said Redel. “Joining the team myself will create a smoother transition and ensures consistency for Action Signs and Designs customers.”
FASTSIGNS also purchased the equipment Redel had used to build sign boxes and small channel letters as well as various tools, hardware and substrates. Most notably, they purchased a bucket truck and a 24’ flatbed trailer to provide their existing customer base with even more capabilities.
In addition, Raymond and Bilodeau have hired a new production assistant who will work hand-in-hand with Bob to learn that aspect of the business including bucket truck installs.
The FASTSIGNS customer database will now include companies from the surrounding smaller towns. Action Signs and Design was located in and servicing the neighbouring area of Amherstburg. As a result of the change, FASTSIGNS will bring on Action Signs and Design clients as well as prospecting to other area businesses.
“We will soak up years of experience and advice that this 25-year sign veteran has to offer,” said Donna Bilodeau, franchisee at FASTSIGNS® of Windsor, ON. “His forte of larger electrical signs, pylons and more was what we did least, and we will now be incorporating the in-house manufacturing of these items. We are really excited about growing this side of our business.”
