Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park
A Premiere Horticulture and Sculpture Park Enhanced with an Organic Blend of Sign Design
The Challenge
Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, a leading horticulture and sculpture park, wanted to expand its 158-acre botanical environment. They needed new signage that blended into the natural surroundings without overshadowing the outdoor sculpture masterpieces. They also wanted a unique way to highlight their roster of donors.
The Solution
FASTSIGNS® focused on creating aesthetically-driven solutions for the gardens. A well-organized project management and installation plan was essential for the expansive acreage. Thousands of signs brought the landscapes to life while maintaining visual harmony. The project scope included a welcome center, cafe and library. FASTSIGNS upgraded the entrance monument sign, creating a beacon for visitors and setting the tone for a world-class garden experience. Wayfinding sign design took an “outside in” approach while detailed informational signs educated visitors about the botanicals and art. Wall wraps highlighted exhibitions, and gate signage promoted amphitheater concerts. Dimensional letters were installed into granite for the Concessions Center, along with enticing menu signs. Donors are crucial to the venue’s success and were recognized with custom plaques and etched names for a distinguished effect. Sponsored locations were labeled in the sculpture area and in the park.
The Result
FASTSIGNS created an artistic and informational design that enabled the customer to imagine the possibilities, while creating a consistently branded, modern solution that naturally integrated with the surroundings.
