Author: FASTSIGNS® of Kitchener-Waterloo

We are very excited to shine a client spotlight on Connor Simpson. Connor has been working very hard on the opening of this new exhibit for THEMUSEUM. This is the latest exhibit for THEMUSEUM. I had the pleasure of speaking with Connor about this new exhibit, and learning more about this exciting new project.

Question One: Tell me a little bit about yourself! How long have you been with the company? What do you like to do outside of work?

My name is Connor Simpson and I have been working as a Graphic Designer for the past four years at THEMUSEUM. When I'm not talking about space, I like to draw.

Question Two: Tell us a little bit about The ALARM Responding To Our Climate Emergency Exhibit?

ALARM | Responding to Our Climate Emergency consists of four exhibitions, two locations, all centred around our climate emergency. Agents for Change | Facing the Anthropocene, EXTINCTION, MELTING ICE, and SPECTRUM | The Climate Emergency Experience, which will open in February 2020 in the Shops of Uptown Waterloo, all make up ALARM.

We really wanted to make sure we had something that every person could enjoy while also taking away important information about our climate and how we impact it. EXTINCTION features live frogs and snakes to appeal to a family audience while Agents for Change | Facing the Anthropocene, co-curated by Nina Czegledy and Jane Tingley, features ten interdisciplinary women artists working on the theme of ecological change at the intersection of science, technology and art.Melting Ice signage on the wall

Question Three: How were you involved with this project?

I work as the sole graphic designer for THEMUSEUM. Therefore, I am responsible for all signage and creative needs. All the signage you will see in ALARM, I created. Look, layout, and material is an easy way to sum up my responsibilities.

Question Four: What are some of your highlights of the project so far?

I enjoy being able to contribute to the conversation around climate change no matter how big or small my part may be.Custom wall signage and decal

Question Five: Were there any challenges? How did you overcome them?

The process of making signage that adds to an exhibition experience rather than draws attention away from it is always an interesting challenge. It's one of the parts of my job that I enjoy the most.

Questions Six: How did FASTSIGNS help you achieve your goals?

By printing and delivering the signage we needed in a fast, efficient manner. We couldn't have done it without FASTSIGNS!The octopus custom sign with description
