Custom Feather Flags in Charlotte

How Feather Flags Compare with Banners & Teardrop Flags

The right format depends on the available space, viewing distance, artwork shape, and campaign message. Each option presents graphics differently:

• Feather flags use a curved, tapered profile that follows the contour of the supporting pole.
• Rectangular banners have straight edges and a fixed rectangular area for text and graphics.
• Teardrop flags use a rounded, closed shape that maintains a more fixed outline as wind conditions change.

A tall feather profile may suit a brief message intended to draw attention from a distance. A rectangular area can accommodate artwork designed around straight horizontal or vertical edges, while a teardrop shape provides a different visual frame.

Artwork for Feather Flags

Flag graphics can incorporate a business logo, brand colors, promotional messaging, or event information. Because the format is narrow and vertical, the most important message should be easy to identify without relying on dense copy.

The printing approach determines how the graphic appears from each direction:

• Single-sided printing: The reverse side of the artwork shows through the material.
• Double-sided printing: The artwork remains independently readable from both sides.

The expected viewing direction can guide this decision. A single-sided option may suit locations where people primarily approach from one direction. When the artwork must be independently readable from both directions, double-sided printing may be considered.

Commercial Uses for Custom Flags

Custom flags for Charlotte businesses can promote products and services while increasing brand awareness. Their portable vertical format suits several commercial settings:

• Storefronts: Call attention to entrances, promotions, or temporary campaigns.
• Grand openings: Identify activity areas and reinforce the opening message.
• Events: Mark important locations and coordinate graphics across the event space.
• Trade shows: Help visitors identify booths and exhibit areas through coordinated visual communication.

Our exhibits and displays team works with clients on combinations of banner stands, kiosks, signs, and tabletop displays. A flag concept can therefore be coordinated with the other graphics used throughout an exhibit or event environment.

Outdoor Conditions, Bases & Charlotte Placement Rules

Outdoor durability depends on the flag fabric, mounting system, and weather exposure. Base selection also depends on whether the setup will be indoors, on a hard surface, in soil, or on a permanently mounted pole. Discuss these conditions before choosing a configuration.

Charlotte’s Unified Development Ordinance Article 22 governs signage requirements involving permits, placement, flag counts, and flagpole installation. It allows no more than three noncommercial flags per street frontage. Flagpoles along public streets must be permanently mounted in the ground and positioned behind required sidewalks.

A sign permit is required for most sign installation, construction, enlargement, movement, or replacement. The Planning Department examines applications within 15 business days, although project requirements and review outcomes can vary. Commercial installations may be treated differently from noncommercial flags, so the location and proposed setup should be reviewed against current requirements before work begins.
