Banners are a great solution for cost effective signage due to their portability and durability. Banners are perfect for events, grand openings, advertising commercial real estate for sale or lease, retail sales/promotions and many other uses. We use 13 oz. vinyl for our standard banners that is perfect for outdoor or indoor uses so there’s no need to specify when ordering. When your event is over it’s easy to roll up vinyl banners for storage, which is a big advantage over other types of rigid signs.
Our standard vinyl banners are made using 13 oz. vinyl material. Our graphic designers will design your banner or use your provided artwork and print the vinyl using a latex or UV printer (depending on the size of the banner). We then finish the banners with a taped him on two sides and grommets every two to three feet. This type of banner will work perfectly for most uses and in indoor and outdoor environments.
The installation method of your banners is important to getting the most use out of them. For step by step installation instructions please see this PDF – Banner Installation. We recommend the “screw and washer” method as this keeps the banner mounted flush against the wall and minimizes the force of high winds. Additionally, banners can be flush mounted and framed for a more permanent look. Banner frames are recommended if you want a flush mounted sign that you intend to change the message on frequently. Many banner frames can snap up allowing easy access to change out the banner. Our team of professional installers can also install your banner for you in Houston or any surrounding area!
Before installing your banner, you should check local sign ordinances and any landlord restrictions. Sign ordinances vary by county and municipality. FASTSIGNS is not responsible for ensuring that your banner complies with sign ordinances, landlord or property owner associations.

The biggest problem for outdoor banners is wind, especially in Houston, TX. Outdoor banners act like a sail without a ship. To combat that problem, many people choose to add “wind slits” to their banners, which are semi-circle cuts that allow the wind to pass through. We do not recommend adding wind slits as this creates a tear point however we can add them on request. Rather than using wind slits, we recommend using a mesh banner instead. Mesh banners allow wind to pass through and are much lighter in weight than standard vinyl banners (this will help with installation). Also, you won’t have any flaps cut through your beautiful artwork!

If you will be sending in a logo or other artwork for your banner, please send it in a vector file. Vector art is created in programs such as Adobe Illustrator and Corel Draw. Vector art is preferred for banners because it can be scaled to any size without distorting the image. If your graphic designer works with a program that creates raster (bitmap) files, please design the image with 150 dpi at full size. Remember to create outlines for text or include any fonts and linked images.
Common Vector Files: .AI, .CDR, .EPS
