One Family Raises Awareness to Break the Silence on Ovarian Cancer

Author: FASTSIGNS® of Dallas, TX - Southwest

For many customers at FASTSIGNS® of Dallas, TX - Southwest, Barbara Eshelbrenner was the face of the business, always providing exemplary customer service with a smile. Even after being diagnosed with late-stage ovarian cancer in 2010, she continued to work at her FASTSIGNS center alongside her husband, son, and daughter-in-law. Barbara lived courageously until the end, passing away in April 2018.

In support of her battle with ovarian cancer, every year the FASTSIGNS team joined Barbara in completing the annual Walk to Break the Silence on Ovarian Cancer. They continue the walk today in her memory. Her family donates signs to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition to help the organization with its goals to raise awareness about the disease and increase funding to fight it. The center has been recognized as a sponsor during the annual walk, with the FASTSIGNS logo on display on banners, mile markers, sponsor boards, and tent headers.

Juan Garcia, Graphic Designer at FASTSIGNS® of Dallas, TX - Southwest, who has been with the team for 11 years and worked closely with Barbara, designs custom Team Barbara shirts for the walk each year. While local friends and family joined the walk in Dallas this year, others who were out of state wore their Team Barbara shirts in support of the cause.

So many lives were touched by the strength Barbara possessed and showed while she fought her cancer. Never complaining and always exhibiting a positive spirit, she lived her life to the fullest.

“While she was with us, she always commented about what a great team we had and she made sure everyone knew that she was proud of all their hard work,” said her son, Dustin. “Now that she is gone, we are proud to donate to the NOCC to help continue the fight that she started and raise awareness about the disease that took her life.”
