Habitat for Humanity Team Begins Cross-Country Bicycle Ride

Author: FASTSIGNS® of Downtown Oakland

(OAKLAND, Calif.) July 31, 2012 –Last month, Bob Frick, 75, and Len Homes, 70, began a 3,000 mile journey across the U.S. to raise awareness and funding for Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley chapter. The two men set out to raise $200,000 in an effort to sponsor the construction of two new homes for Habitat families in the San Francisco Bay Area.

To aid the Habitat Cycle of Hope II riders in preparation for their long journey, the Oakland FASTSIGNS® donated vehicle graphics and their time to deck out the chase car currently following the men with the logos of the ride’s sponsors.

According to Jeff Goodwin, Habitat East Bay/Silicon Valley staff, “FASTSIGNS® of Downtown Oakland’s donation will make a tangible difference in our fundraising efforts and ultimately allow us to raise more money and create a greater impact in our community. FASTSIGNS’ work is a constant conversation starter and an effective way for us to get the word out.”

The newly decorated chase vehicle is being used to provide support to the men as they make their ride. The cyclists are following the Lewis and Clark trail, traveling from Portland, Ore. to St. Louis. All funds raised are 100 percent tax deductible and will be used to provide homeownership opportunities to Bay Area families.

"We love supporting causes that are meaningful to us,” said Linda Fong, owner of the Oakland FASTSIGNS. “This one really hit home, because the two riders are in their 70s and have overcome medical challenges to participate in this ride."
