FASTSIGNS of D.C. Featured in Sign Builder Illustrated

Howard James, 14-year franchisee at FASTSIGNS® of Washington, DC was recently featured in a comprehensive article that highlighted how much he enjoys his work as a business owner and the exciting nature of the sign industry. The article featured his diverse background as an art teacher, graphic designer and theatre technology teacher at an arts high school. He ultimately got into the signage industry because he realized there wasn’t anything like FASTSIGNS in his city, and the center has grown to become one of the leading centers in the network of more than 725 locations in nine countries.

James attributes his success to his ideal location as well as the training and support he received from the corporate team. FASTSIGNS® of Washington, DC is in the business of solutions, and James believes he is successful as a result of hiring a great staff. James is an African-American business owner with a mostly African American staff. They are proud of being both a Black-owned and also Black-operated business, but he shared that they are first about customers and offering them solutions. 

The article touched on their various types of equipment which positions them for different markets and allows them to control the work they do. James shared that he hopes to focus on interior décor in the future such as wallpapers, museum displays, and more. With D.C. as a wonderful installation market, the center sees multiple install jobs a day. The article highlighted the need for signs and how much a part of Howard James’ life they now are.
