Custom Visual Imagery Creates a Sense of Calm for a Dental Clinic

The Challenge:

For patients of Special Smiles LTD., a dental facility providing oral healthcare for individuals with special needs, a trip to the dentist can be overwhelming. To alleviate patient anxiety, the clinic wanted to visually tap into cues of nature for the positive psychological effect it has to create a sense of calm and comfort.

The Solution:

Signs and visuals can play an instrumental role by creating aesthetically pleasing environments more likely to be perceived as both calming and welcoming. The team at FASTSIGNS worked hand-in-hand with the clinic to select calming imagery including over 29 custom crafted, large-format wall wraps, each portaying tranquil ourdoor settings. The clinic’s entry and exit points were adorned with acrylic panels featuring nature-inspired designs. Even ADA-compliant signs were designed to emulate tree bark to further amplify the nature theme. Another natural visual element included overhead light panels creatively designed to cast cloud and tree silhouettes, further enhancing the outdoor illusion. A final, personal touch was a prominent wall displaying the clinic’s logo, surrounded by photo frames celebrating patients.

The Result:

This thoughtful redesign by FASTSIGNS resulted in a welcoming, nature-themed place that resonates with the staff and patients alike. The clinic’s new atmosphere has markedly reduced patient stress, offering a distinctive and thoughtfully curated experience that redefines an approach to the patient experience in the healthcare sector. Through creativity and commitment, the team delivered on the possibilities and the transformative power of visual design in healthcare settings.
