World-Class Event Brought to Life with Intricate Visual Solutions

The Challenge

When the 2022 World Athletics Championships – a global track and field event – needed signage, comprehensive project management and an experienced installation team for their event, they looked to FASTSIGNS®. With a tight timeline of seven days for setup and five days for teardown, the team had to meticulously plan and manage thousands of sign requests – including wrapping a steam plant – while adhering to the organizers’ commitment to 40% renewables.

The Solution

The comprehensive solutions included extensive project management, pre-fabricating materials well in advance to meet the strict installation and tear down requirement. Additional staff were needed to help install 500 pole banners, 180 flags, a wrapped blue scoreboard and an eye-catching steam plant wrapped in 36 banners each measuring 40' x 15'. It also meant highlighting the event sponsor by placing non-adhesive printed images of Asics athletes over NIKE athletes and covering a hotel lobby shoe case with sustainable, Lexjet print and stick fabric. A creative fixed pallet wall was placed in the athlete’s village and later disassembled and used again. FASTSIGNS also created a kid-friendly, climbable selfie backdrop in the airport. To make sure organizers achieved their sustainability goal for the event, FASTSIGNS rented A-frames to help them meet this renewable mark.

The Result

FASTSIGNS implemented an incredibly difficult and extensive project to bring their design concept to fruition and provided much needed project management, organization and full installation. FASTSIGNS brought the highest level of creativity and grit to this project, working round-the-clock to make it happen, and the center received the prestigious What They Th!nk|Wide-Format & Signage magazine’s Project of the Year Award for the project.
