FASTSIGNS® of North Burnaby, BC a locally owned and operated sign and graphics company, is now open under the direction of husband and wife franchisees, Jasbir and Janki Patel. This centre is located in a rapidly developing and highly desirable area of the Greater Vancouver Regional District. Jasbir and Janki first moved to the area in 2005 as Jasbir was working toward his Ph.D. at Simon Fraser University.
Jasbir runs a successful engineering consulting business, and he has extensive business experience from development to completion of a commercial product. Additionally, he is professionally trained in professional communication skills, etiquette, career professionalism, fundamentals of project management and essentials of a productive team. His professional training and diverse work experience has prepared him with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
With more than 15 years of research and development experience both in industry and academia, Jasbir has accomplished research in diverse fields of electrical engineering. A major focus of his research involved development, implementation and commercialization of various engineering technologies with applications in health care and diagnostics, smart fabrics and media; low cost printed electronics; high density energy storage systems and novel adaptive corrosion protection systems. He also has direct research experience in solid-state lighting, analog/digital VLSI systems, process control instrumentation, embedded software/firmware development and electrical power systems. His extensive work in these specializations have enabled him to achieve a number of awards and recognitions throughout his career.
Janki Patel has a Master’s degree in electrical and computer engineering from Simon Fraser University as well as her Bachelor’s in electrical engineering. She worked in information technology and engineering companies for more than seven years and also has experience in designing and developing software applications, engineering solutions, product design and visual interfaces. Janki will bring her strong communication, writing, presenting and interpersonal skills to her role as a business owner. Additional team members include Emily Reilly, Visual Communication Specialist, and Hrishit (Harry) Sedani, Graphic Designer, at the center.
