Regulatory Signs, Safety Signs & ADA-Compliant Signage in Sacramento
Full-Service Compliance Signage for Sacramento Businesses, from Design Through Installation
California’s ADA requirements go beyond the federal baseline, and Sacramento businesses that get this wrong can face liability exposure. At FASTSIGNS® of Sacramento/Natomas Airport Area, CA, we’re a locally owned and operated sign shop serving Sacramento, West Sacramento, North Sacramento, North and South Natomas, and Rio Linda. We handle every step in-house: consulting, strategy, graphic design, fabrication, and installation. One team, one roof, no coordination headaches.
The Americans with Disabilities Act requires any building open to the public to be accessible to individuals with disabilities, and that includes ADA-compliant signage throughout the property. Beyond legal compliance, accessible signage communicates a genuine commitment to inclusivity and creates a welcoming environment for every visitor and employee who walks through your door.

What Regulatory, Safety & ADA Signage Does Your Business Need?
We produce a full range of compliance signage for office buildings, construction sites, parking lots, healthcare facilities, and more. The right sign type depends on what you need to communicate and where.
ADA-Compliant Accessible Signage
Required for any permanent room or space: stairwells, elevators, fire exits, entryways, and parking lots. These signs identify permanent-use areas. Temporary spaces don’t require ADA signage, but any room or area with a fixed function does.
Safety Signs
Alert customers, visitors, and employees to areas that need extra caution: wet floors, busy crosswalks, restricted areas, and similar hazards. Safety signs follow color conventions that carry their own meaning, so correct color usage is part of compliance, not just aesthetics.
Regulatory Signs
Communicate facility policies: no-smoking rules, dress codes, restricted-access notices, and similar directives. These signs tell people what they must or must not do in a given space.
OSHA & Workplace Safety Signage
Required in many commercial and industrial environments to alert workers to specific hazards and mandatory safety procedures. We produce OSHA-compliant signage sized for the viewing distances your facility requires.
You can place orders for any number of signs online at any time; for bulk orders, provide the specifics of each sign and our team can confirm compliance before production begins.
California ADA Sign Requirements Sacramento Businesses Need to Know
California enforces stricter accessibility signage rules than the federal ADA baseline. If you’re working from general ADA knowledge without accounting for state-level requirements, your signage may still fall short. Here’s what California law requires beyond federal standards.
Federal ADA Sign Requirements
Every ADA sign must meet these federal technical standards regardless of location:
- High-contrast background and text colors
- Sans serif fonts with no decorative embellishments
- Tactile text descriptors for any sign that includes a pictogram
- Braille placed below and centered to all text, with a minimum 3/8-inch separation from the text above
- Tactile uppercase letters between 5/8 inch and 2 inches in height
- Signs mounted on the latch side of the door, not on the door itself
- Lowest raised character baseline at minimum 48 inches above the finished floor; highest no more than 60 inches
California-Specific Rules That Go Further
California requires domed Grade 2 braille produced to California spacing requirements, which are more precise than the federal standard. Newly constructed and renovated state buildings must comply with the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design as adopted under California law.
Most public California facilities must install two restroom signs: one geometric display sign and one sign meeting the ADA Accessibility Guidelines. California Assembly Bill 1732, the Equal Restroom Access Act, took effect in 2017 and requires all single-occupancy restrooms in any business establishment, place of public accommodation, or state or local government agency to carry gender-neutral signage. The required symbol is a 1/4-inch equilateral triangle with 12-inch edges inscribed inside a 1/4-inch circle with a 12-inch diameter, centered horizontally on the door between 58 and 60 inches above the floor, measured from the centerline of the symbol.
These requirements catch many Sacramento businesses off guard, especially those working from outdated signage templates or vendors unfamiliar with California law. Our team reviews ADA signage projects against both federal and California state requirements before anything goes to production.
Why Sacramento Businesses Work with FASTSIGNS® of Sacramento/Natomas Airport Area, CA
We’re a locally owned and operated custom sign shop in Sacramento County with a full in-house team: visual communication professionals, project managers, and graphic designers who know California’s ADA signage requirements. That combination means you aren’t piecing together compliance guidance from one vendor, design from a second, and installation from a third.
Custom Design That Stays Compliant
ADA signage doesn’t have to look institutional. We tailor signs to your brand’s colors, materials, and design language while keeping dimensions, fonts, braille specifications, and mounting requirements aligned with applicable standards. A cohesive, professional facility environment and accurate ADA signs aren’t mutually exclusive.
Compliance Review Before Production
For every project, including bulk orders placed online, our team reviews specifications before fabrication begins. Submit your sign details and we can flag anything that doesn’t meet federal or California requirements before a single sign is cut.
Full Project Management:
From the initial site consultation through design, fabrication, and installation, we manage the entire process. A single local partner means less scheduling complexity and a project that stays on track.
