Custom Museum Graphics Bring History to Life for Jamestown Settlement Exhibit

FASTSIGNS collaborated with Jamestown Settlement to design, fabricate and install custom museum graphics, exhibit signage, wall murals and dimensional displays for the "Follow the Dragon" exhibition in Virginia.

The Challenge:

The Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, a living history museum of 17th-century Virginia history and culture, needed to transform a standard gallery area at the Jamestown Settlement museum into a fully immersive, story-driven environment for its “Follow the Dragon” exhibition. The project required translating complex historical concepts into large-scale graphics while operating within an active, sensitive museum space. The team faced tight installation windows, restricted working hours and the critical responsibility of protecting surrounding artifacts, all while ensuring absolute visual alignment so as not to disrupt the guest narrative.

The Solution:

FASTSIGNS® collaborated closely with the museum as a strategic production and problem-solving partner. In an effort to deliver depth and cohesion, the team recommended premium, durable materials and finishes engineered to withstand heavy visitor traffic under specialized exhibit lighting while maintaining the intended aesthetic. The comprehensive visual solution featured large-format printing through wall murals that completely refaced the museum, immersing guests in the historical timeline.

Custom-cut vinyl graphics and dimensional, layered visual elements added striking architectural texture to the display, catching the eye and guiding visitors naturally through the exhibition layout. To preserve the structural integrity of the active museum space, the expert installation crew utilized meticulous staging strategies, executing flawless alignment across all multi-layered components without interrupting daily museum operations.

The Result:

The completed installation created an immersive museum experience while delivering durable, high-quality exhibit signage that enhanced visitor engagement and met the museum's operational requirements. By bringing technical expertise and creative flexibility to the table, FASTSIGNS helped the client feel confident that their vision could not only be achieved but elevated, while flawlessly adhering to strict operational constraints. The high-quality craftsmanship enhanced the overall visitor experience and reinforced Jamestown Settlement’s reputation as a premier educational environment.
