Manufacturing Day 2015: Inspiring the Next Generation

by Cynthia Nutwell

Manufacturing Day is a celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers.  Founded to improve the public perception and understanding of manufacturing careers and their tremendous value to the economy, Manufacturing Day is recognized this year on October 2nd and is typically held on the first Friday in October. Many cities and states across the U.S. are recognizing National Manufacturing Day, and Canada has declared October Manufacturing month.

Recognizing 30 Years in Manufacturing

FASTSIGNS® is celebrating 30 years in the manufacturing industry. In the beginning, FASTSIGNS centers offered quick turnaround vinyl lettering and signs. Over the years, the FASTSIGNS brand has evolved and provides visual communications solutions to help increase the visibility of companies and organizations worldwide. Whether the business challenge is to enhance employee workflow, promote productivity or bring attention to quality control, manufacturing sign solutions range from equipment identification signs to digital signs, logoed uniforms, directional wayfinding signage, floor graphics and more.

Hosting Open House Events

With many manufacturing businesses hosting local events, FASTSIGNS of Eden Prairie, Minnesota is ready to open their doors to provide a facility tour and presentation on Manufacturing Day. The center will demonstrate a vehicle graphic application (weather permitting) and will showcase their machines with sample prints. FASTSIGNS marketing strategists will be available to answer questions about signs and visual graphics.

Promoting Manufacturing Careers

From the beverages we drink and the clothing we wear to the cars we drive and houses we live in, manufacturing is an important part of daily life. Manufacturing Day provides a spotlight on the industry’s job outlook and opportunities abound. Many jobs remain unfilled due to talent shortages, according to the Manufacturing Institute’s 2015 Skills Gap report. With six out of 10 jobs open, it’s forecast that 3.4 million manufacturing jobs will be needed in the next decade.
